Abstract

Background: Bezoars are an infrequent aetiology of bowel obstruction after a laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB).

Objective: To describe a clinical case of bowel obstruction due to a phytobezoar in an uncommon site, in a patient 2 years after a LRYGB.

Case Report: A female patient with a history of LRYGB 2 years ago and bowel obstruction due to phytobezoar.

Discussion: Factors that can contribute to the formation of bezoar in this case and strategies for its prevention are discussed. The importance of the imaging study and timely surgical exploration is emphasized.
